Outline
The DAB-3801 is a test signal generator conformable to the European DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) Standard ETS 300 401.
It consists of modulator blockÀî FIC generator block and MSC generator blockÀî receives audio and serial input dataÀî and outputs DAB IF signals. It is useful to verification of audio service and data service applications of DAB receivers.The FIC generator block has random access memoryÀî in which ready-to-use or user-created data can be loaded through a personal computer. ThusÀî the user can apply the DAB-3801 to verification of any receiver systems.?

In the MSC generator blockÀî the data bit rateÀî protection level and multiplexing point depend on FIC. When the user creates FIC on the personal computerÀî the data bit rateÀî protection level and multiplexing point automatically changes according to the FIC created by the user. If FIC is reconfigured multiplex dataÀî the MSC generator block outputs reconfigured multiplex data according to such FIC.

The DAB-3801 also has a pseudo random code generator and can measure the bit error rateÀî which is needed to evaluate the performance of demodulators of receivers.
Features

Outputs Quasi-random codes for measuring the bit error rate BER, which is needed to evaluate the receiver performances.



If several DAB-3801 units are connected, they can generate the same test signals with a time lag, enabling SFN (single frequency network) verification.



Has random access FIC memory for verification of any receiver systems which the user wants.



An internal backup circuit maintains FIC and panel setting written in the memory for four days at least.



Outputs the pre-determined MSC multiplex configuration information (MCI), broadcasting station name (LABEL), program type (PTY), etc. repeatedly as the fixed FIC data.



Internally replaceable I and Q signals allow the user to reverse the spectrum with a single switch when IF loop-back verification is changed into RF loop-back verification.



A built-in asynchronous sampling rate converter receives digital output signals from a CD, MD or DAT player.



As for the program associated data PAD, any data created by the user on a personal computer can be inserted as a repeat data.



The user can input data synchronous with the burst clock output by the DAB-3801. With this function, the DAB-3801 can measure the bit error rate after error correction by inputting PN codes.



The DAB-3801 encodes a DAB audio frame input to the audio input block and serial data input to the data input block. It supports all audio data shown in the Table index of Table 7 in ETS 300 401 6.2.
